What was released
Kimi describes K3 as a 2.8-trillion-parameter mixture-of-experts model with native vision and a one-million-token context window. It is available through Kimi.com, Kimi Work, Kimi Code, and the Kimi API, with model weights also scheduled for release.
Why global users should care
The product combines an internationally accessible interface with APIs, coding workflows, and an open-model path. That makes it more relevant than China-only products that require domestic identity or payment systems.
Our take
Large context is useful only when retrieval, instruction adherence, latency, and cost remain manageable. Developers should test representative repositories and document sets rather than relying on context length alone.
