Kimi Claw is Moonshot AI’s cloud-deployed OpenClaw assistant for people who want persistent memory, skills, scheduled tasks and messaging channels instead of a one-off chat. This review covers documented capabilities and decision risks; it does not claim a hands-on benchmark.
A practical gateway to a persistent cloud agent, with permissions to verify
Kimi Claw is most interesting for recurring, low-risk work that can run through approved channels. Treat it as an automation layer, not as a fully trusted employee.
What Kimi Claw is
Kimi’s official help center describes Kimi Claw as a one-click cloud deployment of OpenClaw. If you do not already run OpenClaw, Kimi can create a dedicated instance at kimi.com/bot without asking you to buy a server or configure a command line. The default configuration uses Kimi K2.6 and connects the assistant to Kimi membership credits and Kimi Web Search. The documentation also explains how an existing OpenClaw can be linked, and how a user may switch the model to Kimi K3 after backing up the configuration.
Core workflow and channels
The product is designed around continuity. The official usage tips cover a persona, long-term memory, skills and tools, plus HEARTBEAT-style scheduled tasks. Depending on platform support and account settings, a Claw can be connected to chat channels such as WeChat, Feishu, WeCom, Weibo and DingTalk. That makes it possible to ask for a recurring digest, reminder or file-handling task where the team already works instead of moving every request into a separate dashboard.
Our recommended setup is deliberately narrow: define the persona, enable only the skills required for one workflow, run a reversible scheduled job, and review the first few outputs. Keep the channel account separate from a personal account when possible. A memory that improves continuity can also preserve a wrong assumption or sensitive detail, so periodically inspect and clear context.
Best fit and not fit
Best fit: solo operators and small teams that need recurring summaries, reminders, lightweight research handoffs or a bot in an existing messaging channel. It is also a reasonable learning path for someone who wants OpenClaw without maintaining a server.
Not fit: regulated or confidential workloads until retention, deletion, connector scopes, model routing and access logs are verified for the exact plan. It is a poor fit for high-scale custom API workloads that require deterministic deployment, private networking or an exportable audit trail. A one-click deployment reduces setup effort; it does not remove the need to govern credentials and data.
Plans, permissions and limitations
Kimi’s overview states that one-click deployment is available on Allegretto and higher membership plans. Plan names, included credits, model access, regional availability and channel support can change, so confirm the current official overview before purchase. Ask four questions before connecting an account: what the agent can read, what it can send or change, how long prompts and files are retained, and how to revoke or delete the deployment. The platform-support documentation should be checked separately for the channels you actually use.
Our editorial assessment
Kimi Claw’s value is operational convenience: cloud deployment, a persistent context and familiar chat surfaces. Our editorial judgment is positive for bounded, reviewable automation, but cautious for anything involving customer records or irreversible actions. Choose Kimi Claw when the main problem is keeping a small recurring workflow alive; choose Kimi Work for document and desktop productivity, or Kimi K3 when model capability rather than channel automation is the deciding factor. Use Kimi K3 vs ChatGPT for the model-level trade-off and our AI privacy checklist before granting access.
Sources and evidence limits
Primary evidence comes from Kimi’s Kimi Claw overview, usage tips and platform support documentation. These pages support the documented deployment flow and features; they do not prove reliability, security, cost efficiency or quality across every channel. AI Tools Manual has not independently tested Kimi Claw, OpenClaw, Kimi K2.6 or Kimi K3 in this review. Verify the plan, permissions, privacy terms and model routing at the time of approval.
